The Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park, Wandoor is located at a distance of 29 kilometers from Port Blair and is great place to check out the mangrove forests, beautiful beaches, coral reefs and schools of ornamental fish and marine life. Located in Wandoor Jolly Buoy and Redskin islands are a must visit tourist spot.

Neil and Havelock are the most popular and easily accessible islands from Port Blair. You can take small boats which leave the Phoenix Bay Harbor every four times in a week’s time towards Havelock, generally docking at Neil on the way. You may spot dolphins, giant sea tortoise or flying fish on your way to Havelock, which lies north of Neil.

Ross Island is another place to hop and see the several reminiscences of the British administration including a Church, Cemetery and Swimming Pool. Viper Island is known for its old jail where the British used to keep the prisoners.

Port Blair has many interesting places that one can visit. Mini Zoo of Haddo is a good place to see some of the rare species of endemic birds and animals found in the island of Andaman and Nicobar. Cellular Jail, an important landmark is a must visit. Do not miss sound and light show. Andaman Water Sports Complex is where you can head to for safe water sports such as Rowing Boats, Paddle Boats, Kayaks, Aqua-cycle, Aqua-glide...etc. Other places worth visiting in Port Blair are Mount Harriet and Kalapathar.

Reaching there and Best time to go

Indian, Simplifly Deccan, Jet Airways and Kingfisher run regular flights to Port Blair from Chennai and Kolkata. You can also check out Spice Jet and Jet Lite flights from Kolkata.

The other way of reaching Port Blair is through sea route. You can get here by ship from Kolkata and Chennai. A ship from Visakhapatnam also departs and heads on towards Port Blair.

Seafood is common as well as popular in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Fish, Crabs, Lobsters and Prawns are easily available and deliciously cooked.
